Hello, I am John Gitonga, a Kenyan native, resident and a professional guide. I was born and brought up in the Northern part of Kenya, Laikipa, area rich in cultures and wildlife, When I was young from the age of 10 years, we used to keep guard our parents land at night, chasing away Elephants, Buffalos, Zebras, Antelopes among other wildlife from invading our crops, which prepared me and brought about my passion for adventure.

I hold a diploma in Tourism Studies and bronze Medal from Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association (KPSGA), as well an Environmental Policy student focusing on maintaining our tourism eco-systems. I have a special attachment and attention to our authentic cultural diversity, i involved myself with research and conservation activities with organizations including; National Museums of Kenya as a researcher, Nature Kenya , and Kenya Wildlife service as a volunteer. I am also a member of Friends of Nairobi National Park. I am passionate about traveling and take pride in guiding someone else around my beautiful country. I have transversed my country and the East African region quite extensively. I must say that ‘Magical Kenya’ has so much to offer.

John is a top guide. I enjoyed two fantastic days on a private safari with John. Well organized, incredibly deep knowledge of the animals and their habits. John goes further than I expected, we bought food on the way for the night at a cottage. For me it was unique to experience the African food bought from stalls along the way to Amboseli. The safari was an immense experience and we managed to see four of the big five, of course you also have to be lucky.
Above all of that we saw 3-4 prides of lions stalking the vast Amboseli NP.
Anybody who has travelled on African roads and highways know the challenges and dangers. I felt incredibly safe with John and his driving is top class, no risks taken. During the complete trip we talked a lot and he told me a lot about Kenya, the culture, the problems and the wonders.
I would always book John again and have also recommended him twice already.

I was on safari for 3 days with my wife and we had an absolutely wonderful time. 1 thing that impressed me was John’s anticipation for where the animals would move next so we would be in proper position for animals to come towards us rather than away.
